LAND (Los Angeles) | LANDxAIR Artist Residency
LAND is pleased to announce LANDxAIR, its first Artist Residency
Program, which will take place annually at rotating hosting institutions
nationally and internationally. The program will be open to artists in the
United States and abroad.
The first iteration is in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary
Art, Tucson, and will consist of a month-long residency to promote an
in-depth engagement with the community and rich natural resources of
Tucson, encouraging exchange and dialogue through public programs,
conversations, studio visits, and a culminating presentation. Artists will
take residence in MOCA Tucson’s historic neo-brutalist firehouse, built
in 1971. Two artists will be selected by LAND and MOCA’s curatorial
staff, and will be invited to live and work in the former firemen’s
quarters located within the museum. Access to a private room/studio
space will be provided, along with general curatorial oversight
throughout the residency.
Request for Qualifications: Please submit a proposal (no longer than
500 words) outlining a project, new or ongoing, or set of interests/ideas
uniquely sited to the environs/locale of Tucson using the link here.
Please submit artistic documentation (no more than 10 images or links)
and a CV to AIR@nomadicdivision.org. The application deadline is
midnight PST on November 15, 2015. Two artists will be selected and
notified by January 5, 2016, with residency to take place any time
between January-June 2016.
Requirements: Residencies can last from three to six weeks. Housing
as well as a $1,500 stipend per artist will be provided. Artists are
required to be available for studio visits and potential public
programming such as lectures and screenings, and participate in a
culminating presentation in Tucson and/or Los Angeles.
