Congratulations to Kate Grauer who was selected to receive the 2017 Emily Carr Alumni Association Award.
The award was established in 2014 through a donation by the Alumni Association Board to help support lifelong learning for alumni and their children. Alumni who have graduated from the credit program for a period of three years or longer or the children of credit program graduates are eligible to apply for this endowed award which is selected through a jury process.
This year saw the largest number of applicants to date making for a competitive field. Kate, a 1967 graduate of the Vancouver School of Art, received the award based on her intentions for the award. In addition to being an artist, Kate is also an aspiring writer. With the award, she will take Print Media courses to learn techniques that will assist her in illustrating a book of poems she wrote while working in the Great Bear Rainforest, which she eventually hopes to publish.
When advised that she was selected for the award, Kate shared her gratitude to the Alumni Association for making the award possible and that she’s looking forward to studying at the new campus.
